How to unhook and redirect your custom tumblr domain.

I’ve given this a test for a few of my links now, but it should be in working order.

If you followed a tmbr.biqbox.com link, you should now be redirected here, to judacris.tumblr.com. A few concerns from a few individual pushed me towards this decision to let tumblr be tumblr.

Hit the jump to see how I fixed this.

The Problem
Insecure domain server, secure tumblr. Those don’t play well when redirecting anymore. Google Chrome is taking the helm of that security ship. Hostgator doesn’t supply or support free SSL certs very well. Early attempts knocked out my website for a bit. But now I’ve encountered the solution.

The Solution

Big, big thanks to @oddhour

for inspiring me to come up with the solution to my predicament. Unhook custom domain from tumblr, make new tumblr, hook custom domain to new tumblr, add in script as described here to the theme code of new tumblr. And boom. Proper, secure redirection with no fuss from Google Chrome, and no need to worry about transferring your content or suffering through broken links.
