I’ve been hearing that the asian community is planning something similar to blackout. It’ll be in May (Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month). So unlike #yellowout, it wont take away the spotlight from blackout. Hopefully #asianinvasion will have the same support and success as #blackout and maybe there’ll be more movements from the other POC communities.
UPDATE: This will include ALL asians, including those who are partially asian (mixed race) and West Asians, South Asians, Central Asians, Southeast Asians, and those with Middle Eastern Descent.
ANOTHER MORE IMPORTANT UPDATE: Based on the suggesstions brought forward. #asianinvasion wont just be a day to post selfies but a day to share stories (along with selfies if you wish). I think this is a great idea cause blackout created such a lasting impact because of the communities beauty as well as their tales on how they overcome negativity because of their ethnicity. By encouraging ppl to post stories instead of selfies we can seperate ourselves from blackout. We can create a movement inspired by blackout instead of just copying their idea.
